Via is an on-demand, shared ride service that picks up multiple passengers heading in the same direction, keeping rides affordable. Via offers service in New York City, Washington D.C., and Chicago.
Via wanted to test personalized, location-based booking prompts in their rider apps. Rather than spending months building their own solution, Via looked for a location platform that would allow them to run tests quickly, that could accommodate their own internal POIs (including custom service zones, neighborhoods, and airports), that was developer-friendly, and that could power other location-based product experiences in the future.
Via chose Radar as their location platform. Via's growth team was able to quickly bulk import their service zones, neighborhoods, and airports as geofences in Radar. Via's engineering team was able to integrate Radar's SDK seamlessly with their iOS and Android apps, and with their backend and marketing automation tools using webhooks.
Using Radar, Via ran tests that increased booking conversion by 25%. Via verified their hypothesis: that their customers demand great location-based product experiences, and that they prove it with their wallets. Via is now using Radar to run more tests, and to power other location-based product experiences in their rider and driver apps.
The Radar team has done a phenomenal job making it easy to use location to personalize in-app flows. We're excited about the impact on conversion and engagement we see by incorporating location context.
