“We’re really happy we chose Radar as our geofencing provider at Sleeper. The integration with the rest of our tech stack was a breeze, well-documented and easy to follow."

Ken Wang

Co-Founder

“Without geolocation, we do not have a sportsbook. It’s mission-critical, yet we felt taken advantage of — constantly billed for location checks we didn’t need. We needed a partner who would help us optimize, not just process checks.”

Frequently asked questions

What is geo-compliance and why is it required for online gaming?
Arrow icon

Geo-compliance is the regulatory requirement for online gaming operators to verify that a user is physically located within a licensed state or jurisdiction before allowing them to wager. In the US, online sports betting and iGaming are regulated at the state level, meaning an operator licensed in New Jersey cannot legally accept wagers from users physically located in New York. Radar Protect handles this by checking a user’s real-world location in real time before every wager or transaction. Operating without it puts your license at risk.

How is Radar’s pricing model different from legacy geolocation providers?
Arrow icon

Most legacy geolocation compliance solutions charge per location ping, which creates a financial disincentive to check location frequently. Operators minimize checks to control costs, which means less data and weaker fraud protection. Radar prices based on monthly tracked users (MTUs), so you can check location as often as needed: at session start, at regular intervals, or on every wager, at no additional cost. For large operators, this pricing model can translate to 6, 7, or even 8 figures in annual savings compared to per-ping alternatives. See Radar’s pricing for more detail.

Which US states and jurisdictions is Radar licensed in?
Arrow icon

Radar holds gaming vendor licenses across the major regulated US states and continues to expand its licensing footprint as new markets open. Radar Protect includes out-of-the-box support for state-specific exclusion zones such as excluded parishes in Louisiana or tribal areas in Arizona, as well as state-specific requirements for check frequency. Contact Radar’s sales team for the current list of licensed jurisdictions and details on upcoming markets.

How does Radar detect location spoofing and VPN use?
Arrow icon

Radar Protect checks for GPS spoofing, VPN and proxy usage, device tampering, screen sharing, and other techniques that bad actors use to fake their physical location. Radar cross-references multiple signals including GPS coordinates, IP address, Wi-Fi network, device sensor data, and behavioral patterns to identify when a reported location is inconsistent with what the device is actually doing. This is more reliable than IP-based detection alone, which can flag legitimate users while missing more sophisticated spoofing techniques.

Does Radar’s SDK work on iOS, Android, and web?
Arrow icon

Yes. Radar’s SDKs support iOS, Android, web, and desktop, giving operators consistent geo-compliance coverage across every surface where players can wager. Radar’s mobile SDKs have been audited and certified by Gaming Labs International (GLI), one of the industry’s leading independent testing laboratories and a key requirement for many state gaming regulators. See Radar’s developer docs to get started.

Can Radar power use cases beyond geo-compliance?
Arrow icon

Yes, and this is one of the biggest differences between Radar and traditional compliance-only providers. Because Radar is a full location platform, the same infrastructure that handles geo-compliance can also power in-stadium app experiences, on-property casino engagement, and location-based bonuses via Radar Engage, as well as address validation at registration via Radar Maps Platform. Operators get more value from their location investment without adding another vendor or another integration.

How does Radar detect and prevent fraud on gaming and betting platforms?
Arrow icon

Radar Protect provides a real-time fraud detection layer that covers the most common types of abuse. Radar detects bonus abuse by flagging multiple signups from the same location, catches account sharing through multi-device and location anomaly detection, and identifies advanced location spoofing through GPS analysis, device fingerprinting, and behavioral signals. High-risk users and devices are flagged at onboarding before they make it into your platform. The result is a fraud layer that protects promotional margin, ensures geo-compliance, and keeps your platform fair without adding friction for legitimate players.

Geolocation is mission-critical. Your provider should be too.
